Galley pages for the new book. Last chance for notes and tweaks. It’s always odd to read books at this stage because other projects intervene. Since I last worked on this manuscript I had another book come out, wrote a boatload of newspaper columns, a magazine feature, several radio monologues, and have been working daily on the next novel–the final draft of which is due before the one pictured above even hits the shelves. So during the red-pencil sessions it often feels like I’m reading a book written by someone I don’t quite remember. Last night I edited the part of the book where the protagonist meets this guy.
