On Friday April 19th, 2024 Michael Perry and the Long Beds make the second stop of their 3-day tour at The Historic Temple Theater in Viroqua, Wisconsin, for a night of music punctuated by storytelling and laughter (as featured on the recent PBS special Michael Perry: On the Road). Perry’s song lyrics parallel his prose–sometimes poetic, sometimes rough-hewn, and driven by the natural rhythm of his blue-collar background. “I was raised by farmers and preachers and tough country women, and I suppose my songs reflect that,” says Perry. “Then again, certain wisdoms are available only from whistlers, frauds, and sinners, so I try to slide them a line or two as well.” Expect a set list of solid favorites and a handful of new ones. And if you haven’t seen Perry’s band, you’re in for a treat–it’s an all-pro crew that can hold it down or rip it up.
Perry has co-written or collaborated with musicians including Phil Cook, Justin Vernon, Sean Carey, Mary Cutrufello, and Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Geoffrey Keezer.
