The band is crackerjack (does anybody still say “crackerjack”?!?!)\, ripping it up on the solos and bridges when ripping it up is called for\, and laying in just the quiet note or accent when that better suits the mood. Sometimes they whoop it up\, sometimes they soup it up\, and sometimes they go soft and slow\, drawing the entire room into the delicate cocoon of a shared human moment. Mike knows some chords and mainly just strums. But he does write the songs (with the exception of the band’s only cover tune\, “Waymore’s Blues”) and sing’em\, so that’s why he stands there in the middle.
