Sweatin’ at the Mousetrap

After me and them Long Beds finished up at Phoenix Park the other night, we set up and played loud at the Mousetrap.  Mike O’Brien shot some photos and now they’re viewable over on the Volume One site.

Man, it was hot in there.  Thank goodness I brought not one but two New Auburn Area Fire Department sleeveless t-shirts!

As the photo below reveals, I am a singer of great sensitivity:

Long Beds Playing Tonight

Weather permitting (if there’s any doubt, Volume One will have an announcement on their site by 4:30 p.m.) us Long Beds will be playing at Phoenix Park tonight.  Can’t wait.  It’s always such fun.  This is part of the Sounds Like Summer Concert Series.  Be sure to come early and catch Cadence and our Amble Down Records label-mates Meridene (featuring a Hetzel!).

Afterward, we’ll be hauling our gear up the street to play an additional show at the MouseTrap Tavern. NOTE: MouseTrap listing originally had $5 cover, this event is actually FREE.

Mike and Long Beds on the Road

The official Tiny Pilot world tour (“tour” because it’s four stops in one week) (“world tour” because we’re doing one show in Minnesota) is set:

March 16 – Washburn, Wisconsin.

March 18 – Spring Green, Wisconsin.

March 19 – Winona, Minnesota.

March 20 – Menomonie, Wisconsin.

(We’re already booking more Long Beds shows for the fall and early 2011.)

The Tiny Pilot album is available for pre-order (including free digital download).

And of course Mike and/or Mike and the Long Beds are already booked for many additional 2010 appearances.

Thank You, See You

Thank you to everyone in Rhinelander.  Especially everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to bring it together.  Got introduced by a true “Nobbern” girl!  Seats full, my heart too.  And thank you to the EMS and FD “vollies” in attendance.  Earlier I discussed writing and bear-skinning at a local school and was treated to the finest pasty I’ve had in ages.  For those of you checking in from somewhere other than Cornwall, England (or da U.P.), it’s pronounced pass-ty. I had the basic, which was anything but!  Eating pasties, talking literature, Steve Earle, deer hunting and old pickup trucks.  Don’t talk to me about your power lunch.

The band and I will be hitting the road Friday and Saturday.  We’ll be playing songs from our new album (on February 1 we’ll have some fun news about something the label is doing for early orders – for now you can listen to samples here).  Looking forward to whompin’ those D chords.

In the meantime, Jim Fleming is still reading Coop on Wisconsin Public Radio (last night in Rhinelander I was reading the “farmer snort” section and wondering if Jim Fleming ever thought his career would come to this).

Tomorrow night?  First responder refresher class with my New Auburn Area Fire Department friends.

You Freak, I’ll Geek

Up the road from here is Chippewa Falls, home of many fine things including Leinenkugel’s beer (which I have never tasted but can spell) and the Freaks & Geeks blog, which very kindly reviewed the show we did recently with QuinnElizabeth.  I’m happy to say the post includes video footage of both QuinnElizabeth and us Long Beds (for the Long Beds clip, look for the highlighted text…the QE video is right up front).  QuinnElizabeth consists of three sisters, and one of the highlights of the evening for me was getting to sign a book for their Dad!
