Writing and Sirens

Greg Friese of Medical Author Chat called me up the other night and we chatted about firefighting, emergency medical services, and writing.  He recorded the conversation and it is now posted as a podcast here.  I realized about half-way through the interview that I was babbling like a teenaged cheerleader after six cherry Cokes, but in my defense we were discussing things I cherish.  Serving beside my neighbors as an EMT/First Responder/Firefighter has been a sustained privilege.

I don’t know Greg well, but I trust he is a good guy because he was very patient with me in scheduling the interview (it took a while to get everything to line up) and one night when I cancelled he said it was OK because the weather was so nice he wanted to take his son for a bike ride.  There y’go.

Mike on Book Club Girl Radio

Mike did an interview with Book Club Girl Radio, and while the main purpose was to promote the paperback version of Coop, he also discussed what his wife thinks (or doesn’t think) of his writing, took a few questions from Utah, used the word “vicissitude” for the second time in two days, explained “Tiny Pilot,” discussed tuba-playing in the country, verified that logging is tougher than writing, and admitted that there are a couple of chickens he never will be able to butcher.

Yesterday’s Radio Interview

Yesterday’s radio interview is here: available here as an MP3.

Computer needed some tuning over the weekend.  For nearly fifteen years now, my friend Krister has grown used to my panicked calls (frequently from a distant Super 8 motel).  He always has the answer.  Krister had the foresight to set me up with a website way back in the – gasp! – 1990s.  Been goin’ good ever since.  He holds the keys to my universe, and he dang well knows it.
