Got a new monitor (old one did not survive falling from desk). It wasn’t quite the right height, so in addition to The Oxford Companion to English Literature, I have delved back into the ol’ nursing school texts.

I just read part of my next book (It’s called Visiting Tom, and it’s due out in August) for Wisconsin Life, and you can have a listen by clicking here.

The piece is about the power of kitchens…but it’s not about food or cooking.

The music at the end is by my band the Long Beds (it’s a song from Tiny Pilot), in particular the red hot fiddle is by Molly Otis.

Revision: my favorite stage in the writing process. This is when the obsessive-compulsive tendencies that frustrate me to the edge of madness throughout the rest of the process (and daily life itself) suddenly become an asset. This is the inky equivalent of a musician tinkering with the mix.
