Man, I’ve already put some miles on since then, but fun to see the folks at Next Chapter Bookshop in Mequon posted a video of me reading from Coop. The next morning I checked out of my hotel room in Milwaukee and drove to Hartford, Wisconsin, did a reading and a Long Beds concert, then drove to Madison only to discover I left all my clean clothes in Milwaukee.
My wife calls me on the road to say she has just served the children homemade soup. The three-year-old, she reports, leaned her head on her hand, stared into the bowl a moment, and then announced, “This soup is pensive.”
“I think that one’s on you,” said my wife.
Even though the event is already in the rear view mirror, this was just brought to my attention: Milwaukee Magazine‘s Paul Kosidowski was kind enough to include the Mequon reading/signing in his “Friday Five” recommendations. I’m grateful. But here’s the coincidentally neato part: Recommendation #2 was for a play adapted from a Russian novel and performed by Kurt Hartwig and Andy North. And Andy North is my goddaughter’s brother*. Yah.
*If you’re thinking of Andy North, two-time winner of professional golf’s U.S. Open, this is not him…although they are totally related and I am not kidding.
