Thank You

Veterans.

In particular, we are thinking of some family and neighbors.

A Small Slice of Bread

My wife found some old cassettes while cleaning out the garage.  So I began the day listening to The Best of Bread.  Tried both sides.  Sadly, the tape gets the drunken warbles about half way into the first track of each side.  Just enough to remind me that should I decide to download the album for old time’s sake, I can really do without Side Two.

These are good autumn days.  Sunny, clean-aired, cool but not cold as such.  A small fire in the morning and the house is cozy until evening.

Local Thanks

Thank you to everyone who came to the Heyde Center Friday night.  I tried some new stuff in a new way and it was nice to try it in a friendly place.  And a beautiful space – really something to drive into Chippewa Falls and see that classical building and the tall flag all illuminated on the hill there.  A special thanks to the  New Auburn/Town of Sampson/Mud Brook folks who made the drive.  And another special thanks to the NAAFD crew.

And if you were paying close attention to the whoop during one part of the performance, you’d know a certain butcher was in attendance…

Heyde Center Tonight

Have some work to do around the place, then I’ll pack up and head for Chippewa Falls (home of Leinenkugel’s beer) and the Heyde Center.  I’ll admit I’m a tad more nervous than usual because I’m going to do some new material (a lot of the folks around here have heard my stories sixteen times), not all of it right out of a book.  But it’ll be fun.  The Heyde is a neat space, and shoot, I’ll be in Chippewa County!

Heyde show info here.

Barry Lynn

I have mentioned Barry Lynn in my books and other writing often.  Perhaps you’d not think a fellow like this would be an inspiration to a clunky-footed knucklehead like me.  But he is.  Profoundly so.  Past his mid-90s now, and still performing new dances.  My friends John and Julie have been documenting Barry’s life for many years.  The clip below is from their film, One Million Years is Three Seconds.
