Can’t wait to ride in the parade (see page 2).
And here’s a great article about the size of this event. Wow.
We just moved all the photos from the old website over to this one. They begin on this page (January 20 entry) and continue on this page. Naturally my favorite is the series detailing the, um, progress of my hairline.
I am frequently asked about writing and the business of writing, and although I do my best to be helpful, the real answer is 20 years long, infinitely variable, and ever-changing. So I am always heartened when I am sent stories such as this. And of course I’m also tickled and humbled (tumbled? hickled?) by an item in the corresponding photograph.
To the person who asked, yep, I have six words in here:
This came out a while ago, but yesterday when I was sorting through boxes of books in the pole barn I was reminded that the editors of The Oxford American Book of Great Music Writing asked those of us who contributed pieces to mention it on our blogs and whatnot.
Included is an essay I wrote about King Pleasure.
A reader/listener/visitor shared this photo via their Twitter link. It was taken at the recent The Daredevil Christopher Wright/Long Beds concert and includes the mother of one of my newest relatives, the new relative in question, and a young fiddle player. A nice visual summary of the pleasant atmosphere that prevails at the Phoenix Park shows.
The young lady on the right plays fiddle with these folks.
What a neat way to remember the Coop tour of 2009: with a video from Wisconsin Public Television.
A special thanks to Frederica for all the introductions over the years and to all the rest of the Here And Now crew for the work that goes on behind the scenes and in control rooms just so I can yap about books and chickens. I’ll continue to do essays for WPT but they’re switching them to a different show at a different time. We’ll keep you posted.
Last I heard, Wisconsin Public Television’s “Here & Now” will be running a piece about my last “official” night of book tour. Should air tonight at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. I’m looking forward to seeing this, as I have no idea what tape they used (it was filmed live in Madison). And a special nod to Wendy, who suffered for the shoot.
